La misurazione del punto prossimo di convergenza (PPC) è uno dei
test preliminari più diffusi in campo optometrico, ampiamente utilizzato nella comune pratica clinica, così come nelle procedure di screening visivi. Il protocollo di esecuzione del test è variabile e molteplici sono i target utilizzabili. Lo scopo dello studio è stato quello di valutare se la misura del PPC dipende, ed è influenzata, dalla tipologia di mira impiegata. Altro obiettivo dello studio è stato di determinare se il tipo di target utilizzato nel test del PPC ne influenzi il risultato in termini di: distanza misurata, correlazione tra target e questionario sintomatologico e apprezzamento delle mire da parte degli esaminati.
Influence of the target in the assessment of the near point of convergence
Measuring the NPC - near point of convergence - is one of the most common preliminary tests in optometry and it is widely used in the daily clinical practice, as well as during visual screening procedures. The test protocol is variable and several targets may be used. The purpose of this study is to assess whether measuring the NPC may depend on or be affected by the type of target used. A further objective of this study is to determine whether the type of target used in the NPC test may affect the result in terms of measured distance, correlation between target and symptomatic questionnaire and target awareness by the tested individuals.
